The Same Pikachu Gold Star PSA 10 That Sold for $705 in 2019 Just Sold for $135,000

A familiar certification number recently resurfaced in the Pokémon hobby, and the results have collectors talking.

According to public sales records, the exact same 2006 Pokémon EX Holon Phantoms Gold Star Pikachu #104 PSA 10 that sold for $705 on eBay in June 2019 has resurfaced and changed hands again in 2026 for $135,000 via Best Offer.

The card, bearing PSA certification number 20940489, has experienced one of the most dramatic price increases seen in the hobby over the last several years.

From $705 to $135,000

Public records show the card sold on eBay for just $705 on June 23, 2019. Fast forward to 2026, and the same copy recently sold for an accepted best offer of $135,000.

That represents a gain of approximately 19,049% over seven years.

While few collectors could have predicted that kind of appreciation, Gold Star Pokémon cards have become some of the most sought-after modern-era vintage cards in the hobby.

Why Is Gold Star Pikachu So Special?

Released in EX Holon Phantoms in 2006, Gold Star Pikachu remains one of the franchise's most iconic chase cards.

Unlike traditional cards, Gold Star Pokémon were printed in extremely limited quantities and featured alternate-colored Pokémon artwork. Combined with Pikachu's worldwide popularity, the card has long been viewed as one of the cornerstone pieces for serious Pokémon collectors.

Condition scarcity has also played a major role.

According to PSA, only 120 copies have achieved a Gem Mint 10 grade, making pristine examples incredibly difficult to acquire.

The Market Has Changed Dramatically

Back in 2019, many Gold Star cards were still relatively overlooked compared to today's market. Interest in Pokémon collectibles exploded during the pandemic years, bringing a wave of new collectors and investors into the hobby.

Since then, trophy cards, Gold Stars, Crystal Pokémon, and other high-end grails have reached prices that once seemed unimaginable.

Seeing the exact same copy rise from $705 to six figures highlights just how much the market has evolved.
