Pokémon TCG Hits $140 Million on eBay in June as Pikachu and Charizard Lead the Market

The Pokémon TCG secondary market continued its impressive momentum in June 2026, generating approximately $140 million in sales on eBay. The milestone marks the seventh consecutive month of growth, underscoring the sustained strength of collector demand across vintage cards, modern chase cards, and sealed products.

Leading the way once again was Pikachu, which generated $18.4 million in eBay sales during the month. Close behind was Charizard with $16.8 million, meaning the hobby's two most recognizable Pokémon combined for more than $35 million in total sales.

Pikachu Extends Its Lead

Pikachu once again claimed the top spot with $18.4 million in eBay sales during June, reinforcing its position as the most actively traded Pokémon in the hobby. While many collectors associate Pikachu with ultra-rare trophy cards and the iconic Illustrator card, much of its strength comes from its incredible depth across every price point.

Modern illustration rares, Pokémon Center exclusives, Japanese promos, Poncho Pikachu releases, and countless vintage cards all contribute to consistent transaction volume. At the same time, thousands of lower-priced singles are bought and sold every day, creating a level of liquidity that few other Pokémon can match.

Unlike many characters whose markets are concentrated around a handful of grail cards, Pikachu benefits from broad collector demand spanning casual fans, investors, master set builders, and high-end collectors alike. That combination continues to make it the highest-grossing Pokémon in the secondary market.

Charizard Shows No Signs of Slowing Down

Charizard finished close behind at $16.8 million in June sales, continuing one of the strongest long-term runs in the hobby. Despite years of record-breaking prices, collector demand remains remarkably resilient across virtually every era of the Pokémon TCG.

Vintage Base Set holos, Crystal Charizard, Gold Star Charizard, EX-era releases, Japanese exclusives, and modern Special Illustration Rare cards continue to attract strong buyer interest. Premium examples regularly command five- and six-figure prices, while more affordable modern releases keep transaction volume consistently high.

The gap between Pikachu and Charizard remains relatively narrow, with the pair combining for more than $35 million in June alone—roughly one-quarter of all Pokémon eBay sales for the month. Their dominance continues to highlight just how influential these two franchise icons remain within the trading card market.

Gengar, Mew, and Umbreon Round Out the Top Five

After the clear separation created by Pikachu and Charizard, a second tier of fan-favorite Pokémon rounded out the leaderboard.

Gengar secured third place with $8.2 million in sales. Long regarded as one of the hobby's most collectible Ghost-type Pokémon, Gengar continues to benefit from strong demand across vintage holos, Japanese exclusives, and modern alternate art cards. Its broad appeal among collectors has helped it establish itself as one of the market's most dependable performers.

Mew followed with $6.8 million, driven by a unique mix of vintage promos, Japanese-exclusive releases, and modern chase cards. As one of Pokémon's most recognizable mythical Pokémon, Mew consistently attracts collectors looking for both iconic vintage pieces and newer premium releases.

Rounding out the top five was Umbreon, generating $5.6 million in June sales. While the explosive "Moonbreon" boom helped propel Umbreon into the spotlight, demand has expanded far beyond a single card. Neo-era holos, Gold Star Umbreon, Japanese exclusives, and recent premium releases continue to perform well, making Umbreon one of the strongest modern-era collecting categories in the hobby.

Together, Gengar, Mew, and Umbreon generated more than $20 million in combined June sales, illustrating that while Pikachu and Charizard remain the hobby's biggest names, collector demand continues to be distributed across several highly sought-after Pokémon franchises.

The Pokémon Market Remains Strong

With seven straight months of growth, the Pokémon TCG market continues to demonstrate remarkable resilience. Vintage grails remain highly sought after, while modern illustration rares and limited releases continue attracting new collectors.

As new products launch throughout the second half of the year and major auction houses continue setting records for high-end cards, the market shows little indication of slowing.

Whether you're collecting vintage icons or today's newest chase cards, one trend remains clear: Pikachu and Charizard continue to lead the Pokémon hobby.
