The Pokémon TCG market continues to show remarkable strength in 2026, with the 40 highest-selling Pokémon generating more than $346 million in year-to-date eBay sales alone. While iconic names continue to dominate, the data also reveals shifting collector preferences, breakout performers, and several surprising risers.

Charizard Remains the Undisputed King

No Pokémon commands the secondary market quite like Charizard.

With $74.1 million in eBay sales so far this year, Charizard comfortably holds the No. 1 spot, finishing more than $6.3 million ahead of Pikachu. Even more impressive, Charizard's total sales volume has increased 113% compared to the same period last year.

Its dominance spans virtually every era of the hobby—from Base Set and Gold Stars to modern chase cards like Terastal Festival, Prismatic Evolutions, and Black Bolt.

What the Data Tells Us

The rankings highlight a Pokémon market that continues expanding rather than concentrating around only a handful of grails.

Vintage cards remain highly sought after, but modern alternate arts, illustration rares, Japanese exclusives, and premium promos are bringing entirely new collectors into the hobby. Characters like Dragonite, Gengar, Squirtle, Bulbasaur, and Raichu posting triple-digit growth suggests demand is broadening well beyond the traditional headliners.

As the second half of 2026 unfolds with several major Pokémon releases still ahead, these rankings provide one of the clearest snapshots yet of where collectors are choosing to spend their money—and which Pokémon continue to define the trading card market.

The Market’s Deepest Bench

The middle of the rankings proves collector demand extends far beyond Pokémon's biggest stars. Espeon leads this group with over $4.2 million in sales, while Charmander (+90%) and Psyduck (+93%) posted two of the strongest year-over-year growth rates in the entire Top 40. Legendary favorites including Zekrom, Zapdos, Latios, and Moltres continue to generate millions in annual sales, while Mimikyu's rapid rise highlights the growing influence of modern-era Pokémon. Together, ranks 17–24 accounted for more than $32 million in eBay sales, demonstrating the remarkable depth of today's Pokémon card market.

Only 1 Pokémon Declined

Reshiram was the only Pokémon in the Top 40 to post a year-over-year decline, with eBay sales volume slipping 2% from the prior period. Even so, it still generated more than $3.5 million in sales, highlighting the resilience of the broader Pokémon market despite softer demand for a single character.

A Strong Finish for the Top 40

The final eight Pokémon reinforce just how healthy today's Pokémon card market has become. Bulbasaur (+97%) and Deoxys (+104%) were among the fastest-growing Pokémon in the entire rankings, while Gardevoir, Articuno, Lucario, and the Eeveelutions continued to post millions in annual sales. Perhaps most notably, Flareon, Vaporeon, and Jolteon all finished inside the Top 40, a testament to the incredible depth of collector demand. With even these iconic—but lower-ranked—Pokémon each generating over $2.4 million in eBay sales this year, the data suggests the market isn't driven by just a handful of characters. Demand remains broad, liquidity is strong, and collectors continue to support a wide range of Pokémon across both vintage and modern releases.
