Beckett Halts Base and Standard Submissions Amid Historic Demand Surge
Beckett Collectibles has temporarily paused online submissions for its Base and Standard grading tiers, citing a 102% year-over-year spike in cards submitted that has pushed turnaround times to their limits.
The pause, announced August 5, 2026, makes Beckett the second major grading company to halt lower-tier submissions in recent months, following PSA's similar move. Beckett cited the need to "maintain estimated turnaround times and the overall customer experience" in a pinned post on its social channels.
Submissions jump 102% year-over year
The numbers behind the decision are striking. Cards submitted jumped 102% year-over-year from July 2025 to July 2026. Trading card game (TCG) cards graded surged 159% over the same period. New collectors entering the hobby grew 65%, signaling the demand is structural, not a short-term spike.
Base and Standard are Beckett's most affordable entry points, making them the tiers most likely to attract the flood of new collectors the data reflects.
Collectors with existing orders won't be left in limbo. Submissions already in the system will continue to be processed, packages in transit will be received and graded as usual, and Express and Priority service tiers remain open. Reopening for Base and Standard is expected September 15.
For collectors holding cards they planned to submit, the window is effectively closed for the next six weeks. Those with time-sensitive submissions will need to weigh whether upgrading to a faster service tier is worth the cost.
