The Highest Recorded Pokémon Video Game Sale in History
In what is now the highest recorded sale of Pokémon video games in history, a private collection of PSA-graded, sealed Generation 1 first-print Pokémon Game Boy titles — known under "The Dubai Collection" — has sold for $2,000,000 through collectibles broker Nostalgix.
The collection includes three of the most iconic titles in gaming history: Pokémon Red Version, Pokémon Blue Version, and Pokémon Yellow Version: Special Pikachu Edition, all in sealed condition and graded by PSA.
The Red and Yellow versions each earned a perfect PSA 10 Sealed A++ grade — the highest designation PSA awards — while the Blue Version received a near-perfect PSA 9.8 Sealed A++.
All three games originate from Japan, graded under PSA's "Pixelated Rating" qualifier. The Red and Blue versions feature the "Sandshrew Screenshot" variant, and the Blue Version carries the additional "Red Text" designation — details that contribute significantly to their rarity and collectibility. The Yellow Version is specifically identified as the 1999 Special Pikachu Edition release.
