Market Index: Pokémon Outperforms Bitcoin, Gold, and the S&P 500 in Q2 2026

Rayquaza, Lugia, Mew, and Umbreon helped power Pokémon to one of the strongest performances across all major collectible and investment categories over the past three months.

The latest Gempire Market Index, tracking 30 of the world's most recognizable collectibles, athletes, franchises, companies, and financial assets, shows Pokémon continuing to be one of the strongest-performing markets in 2026.

Nine Pokémon-related categories ranked inside the top 30, with several posting gains that significantly outpaced traditional investments.

Pokémon Outpaced Traditional Investments

While collectibles continued to strengthen, several traditional assets posted modest gains or declined over the same period.

Although traditional markets remain important long-term investments, the data highlights how strong demand for premium Pokémon collectibles has continued to drive prices higher throughout 2026.

Other Collectibles Also Posted Strong Gains

The rally wasn't limited to Pokémon.

Other collectible categories that performed well included:

  • One Piece: +28%

  • Luffy: +26%

  • Dragon Ball: +13%

  • Goku: +18%

  • Magic: The Gathering: +11%

Yu-Gi-Oh! was the only major TCG franchise in the index to finish negative during the period, declining 4%.

Why Pokémon Has Continued to Climb

Several trends have supported the market over the past few months:

  • Record-breaking public auction prices

  • Increasing demand for trophy cards and vintage PSA 10s

  • Strong interest from high-end collectors

  • Continued scarcity of iconic cards

  • Growing mainstream visibility through major auction houses and media coverage

Many of the strongest performers—such as Rayquaza, Lugia, Umbreon, and Mew—are among the hobby's most recognizable and actively traded characters, helping drive sustained momentum.

The Bottom Line

The latest Market Index reinforces what many collectors have already noticed: high-end Pokémon remains one of the strongest-performing collectible markets in 2026.

While individual cards can be volatile and past performance doesn't guarantee future returns, the broader trend remains clear. Over the past three months, several of Pokémon's most iconic characters have outperformed many traditional assets, including Bitcoin, Gold, NVIDIA, and the S&P 500.

As auction activity remains strong and collector demand continues to grow, the Pokémon market continues to establish itself as one of the most closely watched alternative asset classes.
