Four New Mega Attack Rares Revealed: Rayquaza, Greninja, Darkrai & Zygarde
Pokémon gave collectors an early look at four new Mega Attack Rare cards during the 2026 Pokémon World Championships closing ceremony, revealing new versions of Mega Rayquaza ex, Mega Greninja ex, Mega Darkrai ex, and Mega Zygarde ex.
The cards continue the instantly recognizable Mega Attack Rare design, with oversized comic-style attack names cutting across the artwork. The rarity first appeared with cards connected to Japan’s MEGA Dream ex High Class Pack and then Ascended Heroes, giving the Mega Evolution era a card style that looks dramatically different from traditional illustration rares.
Are They From MEGA x MEGA Parade?
While Pokémon has not officially confirmed the set placement of these four cards, current reporting points toward MEGA x MEGA Parade, Japan’s next High Class Pack. The set is currently expected to release in Japan on February 19, 2027, with Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y among its featured Pokémon. That potential placement makes sense. Japanese High Class Packs traditionally combine reprints of cards from the preceding year with a large selection of new premium artwork and secret rares, making them some of the most collector-focused releases on the Pokémon TCG calendar.
Mega Rayquaza Could Be the Early Standout
All four reveals bring major characters into the Mega Attack Rare lineup, but Mega Rayquaza ex may command the most attention from collectors. Rayquaza has historically been one of Pokémon’s most sought-after characters in the high-end card market, and the huge “STORM EMERALDA” treatment gives this version an especially aggressive look.
With four more Mega Attack Rares now revealed—and MEGA x MEGA Parade still months away—the full lineup could become one of the more interesting collector stories of the Mega Evolution era.
